My dad bought my mum these amazing dark pink roses today. (They're almost red, they're just gorgeous!)
One of the stems broke on one of them, and she let me mess around with it. Naturally I had to take pictures. :)

That is my purity/promise ring on the rose, and as it's close to Valentine's Day, I figured it was rather fitting.

This is sort of new to me, I've not really tried to shoot cut flowers before. It was a bit harder than I had expected. The lighting, the angle, the focus... they all have to be intensely watched.
I was a little disappointed that the focus on this did not come out as clear as I had hoped.
But all in all, for trying something new, it turned out ok!

I try a new kind of photography at least once a week, any suggestions for the next few weeks would be very appreciated!
Also, as always, any critical comments are welcome as well. :)

Tony bought me this ring at the Vancouver Folk Fest last summer, dropping to one knee to present it to me and slip it on my finger as the lead singer of the Bare Naked Ladies coincidently launched into "Jane". Oddly, it broke the day after I took this picture, so much so I had to remove it, (which was difficult), as it stabbed me in the middle of the night. It's currently sitting on the bedside table, an unpleasantly apt metaphor for a recent disagreement.

edit: Tony brought it in to be repaired at an antique jewelry shop on Valentine's. It should be back on my finger soon!

Patricia works hard to give her family a good life, supplying her daughter, Pamela, with everything a girl could possibly want. Pamela misses her father, Ryan, whom she never had much of a relationship with because he placed his job as a real estate agent-and office poker games-above his family.
Upon being transferred thirty miles away to the coastal town in California, Pamela's life backslides. Pamela is smitten by Bill and falls head over heals in love with him letting her schoolwork take a backseat. Both of Pamela's parents are oblivious to their daughter's activities, too busy with their own emotional turmoil. As Pamela navigates the many obstacles of adulthood, it becomes apparent how much a girl truly needs her parent's guidance in school and in her relationships with the opposite sex. Patricia shows her daughter how much she loves her by saving money for a European high school graduation present. The trip comes at a time when Pamela needs it the most because of the events that unfold in her life the night after she turns eighteen.
